Discover Your Story

You have a fantastic idea for a novel, but how do you build a story from scratch?

It all starts with laying a strong foundation. By dedicating time to grasp its logic, forging emotional connections, and making critical decisions about its structure and shape, you pave the way for a story that captivates readers from beginning to end.

The Blueprint for a Book system walks you through a series of foundational questions about your story to produce a powerful tool called the Inside Outline

These questions serve as valuable tools regardless of where you are in your writing journey. They can assess a published manuscript, revive a struggling book, or help a writer overcome a block in a scene, chapter, or entire book. Additionally, they can serve as a roadmap for revision or crafting a synopsis.

Their most impactful use, however, is at the beginning of a writer's journey. At this stage, no words have been written, no mistakes have been made, and the writer is open to all possibilities for their story. This is the brainstorming phase, where questions about goals, the story's purpose, and the ideal readers begin to take shape.

Explore the Blueprint for a Book coaching programs with two package options:
Blueprint for a Book 101 and Blueprint for a Book: Your Story's Foundation

Curious about coaching but unsure where to begin? My introductory package, Blueprint for a Book 101, offers a gentle start: a one-page version of the Blueprint for a Book: Your Story's Foundation package designed to get you started on building your story's base. You will get an overview of foundational elements such as genre, WHY you want to write this story, the point of your story, ideal reader, character arcs (character goal state), central conflict (obstacles), story timeline, and overall plot.

This package includes:
  • An onboarding call to discuss expectations and any questions.
  • A worksheet with thought-provoking questions for laying the basics of your story.
  • A review of your opening scene with feedback on what is working and what isn't (up to 15 pages).
  • An editorial analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of your story idea, plus recommendations on improvements.
  • A 60-minute coaching call to discuss the feedback on the Blueprint for a Book 101 and opening scene evaluation.
    • During our call, we'll review your Blueprint for a Book 101 responses and give feedback on your pages. We'll discuss your thoughts on the feedback, brainstorm ways to improve your work, answer any questions you have, and plan the next steps for your writing journey.
