About Me

Hi! I'm Karla.

As a Spanish–English, fully bilingual developmental editor and book coach, I guide fiction writers as they piece together their stories into powerful, pitch-ready manuscripts.
I am certified through Author Accelerator's rigorous program as a book coach and I also worked as a mentor in the Story Grid Writer Mentorship Program.

I help fiction writers develop the skills they need to craft compelling scenes, powerful short stories, and satisfying novels.

I know how easy it is to get lost in a draft. I was there once, too, rewriting the same novel for years. But that experience taught me how to decode story structure, and now I use that knowledge to guide writers through my Pitch-Perfect Pathway so they can write with confidence, purpose, and joy.

My approach blends analytical structure with creative discovery. Using tools from Story Grid, Author Accelerator, Fictionary, and Plottr I help writers see what's really happening beneath the surface of their stories, and together, we find ways to strengthen them.

Fun Fact About Me!

I hail from vibrant Mexico City, but my childhood unfolded in a unique setting—growing up in a border town just across from Brownsville, TX. Days were split between attending school in Brownsville, immersing myself in English education, and returning home to Mexico to reflect and repeat the day's lessons in Spanish. This dual upbringing gave me a diverse educational experience, fluently mastering both languages. Today, I am proud to offer my services to clients in Spanish and English, bridging cultures and communication effortlessly.

I'm Karla Díaz, an Author Accelerator Certified Fiction Book Coach and developmental editor. I work with motivated, unpublished fiction writers who have an idea they can't quite crack, or a draft that isn't working yet.

Together we'll map the story, figure out what each piece is doing, and build a clear path forward from first outline to pitch-ready manuscript. I work in English and Spanish with writers in fantasy, science fiction, romance, thriller, and beyond.

Why​ Work With Me

I'm an Author Accelerator Certified Fiction Book Coach and a Fictionary StoryCoach editor-in-training. My approach draws on Jennie Nash’s Blueprint for a Book method and integrates established frameworks such as Story Grid and Fictionary’s 38 story elements, along with other methodologies, to help writers see their stories as a whole and move forward with purpose. I use what works for your story, not what's most familiar to me.

I left a career in consumer market research to write my own novel. The struggle, the revision, the slow discovery of what the story actually needed: that experience is what drives how I work with writers now. I know what it feels like to be close to a story and still not able to crack it. That's exactly the gap I help you close.
